The Office of General Counsel (OGC) provides strategic legal and compliance guidance for Georgia Tech's global collaborations and academic programs through its partnership with the Vice Provost for International Initiatives (VPII), which includes International Operations, the Office of International Education (OIE), GT-Europe, and GT-Shenzhen. OCG leverages the collective expertise of all its units to provide comprehensive support to VPII.

Along with legal guidance, OGC’s Legal Affairs unit (“Legal Affairs”) reviews and negotiates international agreements, advancing Georgia Tech’s international collaborations. To ensure consistency across global activities, Legal Affairs and VPII partnered to create standard templates for a broad spectrum of activities, ranging from exploratory discussions to student exchange and study abroad programs.

In addition to our standard International Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) template, these templates include:

  • Academic Cooperation Agreements
  • Dual/Joint Degree Program Agreements
  • Bilateral Student Exchange Agreements
  • Global Research and Internship Program (GRIP) Internship Agreements

Use of our standard templates is strongly recommended for uniformity as well as streamlined and expedited processing. VPII oversees all Georgia Tech international initiatives and submits relevant agreements to Legal Affairs for review (except research-related agreements which are processed by Georgia Tech’s Office of Sponsored Programs).

For assistance with international initiatives or agreements, please contact the designated VPII contact or VPII office at vpii@gatech.edu.

VPII, including OIE, will facilitate Legal Affairs review of pertinent agreements by submitting the International Initiatives Routing Form, as needed, and accompanying documentation and information to asklegal@gatech.edu.
