Danette Joslyn-Gaul joined the Georgia Institute of Technology as General Counsel and Vice President for Ethics, Compliance, and Legal Affairs in 2022. Her appointment marks a significant addition to Georgia Tech's leadership, bringing a depth of expertise and knowledge to the Institute. 

Danette’s experience reflects a diverse background that spans nearly three decades. Her professional journey includes serving two Georgia governors, notably as one of the youngest attorneys to serve as Executive Counsel when she was Executive Counsel to Governor Zell Miller. As Executive Counsel, she was instrumental in implementing initiatives like the HOPE Scholarship and assisting with diversification of Georgia's judiciary. 

Additionally, Danette’s career encompasses her role as Director of State Affairs for Emory University, where her leadership led to increased funding for Grady Hospital, passage of research confidentiality legislation, and the launch of a strategic plan for the Georgia Cancer Coalition. She later became the inaugural General Counsel and Head of Government Relations for the Georgia Technology Authority. 

At Wimberly, Lawson, Steckel, Schneider & Stine, P.C., she was a litigator for over a decade and became partner, participating in various state, federal trial and appellate cases and legal proceedings across the country. 

Most recently before joining Georgia Tech, she served as Chief Compliance Officer for Pearson, a leading global learning company. In this role, her work focused on the transformation of Pearson's global compliance function. Her career at Pearson, which began in 2014, also included roles as Vice President of Global Compliance and Senior Counsel for North America. 

Danette is an alumnus of Rhodes College, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and Spanish. She furthered her education with a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law. 

Beyond her professional life, Danette is rooted in family. She and her husband, also an attorney, have three children: two are college graduates and the youngest is attending college. In her spare time, Danette enjoys spending time with her family and exercising.
